✨ Product Overview
Crafted by the master artisan Masashige Uenaka, this leather bangle brings the elegance of hand-painted Yuzen to wearable art. Uenaka uses the yuzen dyeing technique (色挿し) on cowhide leather, combining traditional kimono aesthetics with contemporary design. The design features a base of checkered (ichimatsu) pattern, over which chrysanthemum (“菊”) motifs are drawn and outlined in gold for refined detail.
🎨 Key Features & Craftsmanship
The leather is first dyed with the ichimatsu background, then patterns are drawn using a steel stylus (鉄筆), followed by gold outlines for accents.
Because leather absorbs dye differently than cloth, Uenaka repeats layering and refinements until the color is uniform, merging subtlety and vibrance.
The craftsmanship is limited: only a few pieces can be produced each month due to the laborious production method.
The bangle uses an internal copper plate core, allowing for slight bending to adjust fit — though care must be taken not to overstretch and deform the shape.

🎁 Why It’s Special & Usage
This bangle bridges kimono tradition and modern accessory fashion. It suits casual wear, business casual, or special occasions.
The chrysanthemum motif (菊) is symbolic and elegant; paired with the subtle checkered background, the piece balances refinement with personality.
The packaging is thoughtful: the box includes a UV-cut transparent acrylic lid so you can see the bangle even when stored — letting you enjoy the design every day.
Over time, the leather will mature and develop a deeper patina, enhancing its character.
