Introducing Private Residence Nijōjō TOMO
Grand Opening: November 16, 2025
Kyoto is a city where old stories breathe quietly in the morning air - where temple bells echo across narrow streets, and history sits just beyond the corner. And this autumn, a beautiful new stay has opened its doors right at the heart of that timeless landscape.
Today, we’re excited to introduce Private Residence Nijōjō TOMO, a brand-new accommodation that officially opened on November 16, 2025.
If you’ve ever dreamed of waking up directly in front of Nijō Castle, this is the place where that dream becomes real.
A New Kind of Kyoto Stay
— Designed for Three Generations to Share One Roof
Private Residence TOMO is built around a rare and meaningful concept:
a spacious home where parents, children, and grandparents can stay together, comfortably and naturally, without compromise.
Instead of splitting into multiple hotel rooms, families can gather in a single, private Kyoto house - sharing meals, sharing stories, and returning home with memories tied beautifully across generations.
With approx. 200㎡ of space and four bedrooms, the residence can welcome up to 9 guests, offering:
6 double beds
1 semi-double
2 singles
No matter the size of your family - or whether your group spans friends, coworkers, or three generations - there is room for everyone.
A Bathhouse & Sauna Designed for Conversation
One of TOMO’s most charming features is the large bath and sauna on the first floor.
This isn’t just a facility - it's a space intentionally created so families can relax together.
In Japanese culture, bathing side-by-side is an invitation for deeper connection. A place where conversations flow naturally. Where grandparents talk to grandchildren. Where families can “wash each other’s backs” and unwind after a day exploring Kyoto.
TOMO captures that warmth beautifully.
Karaoke With a View (Yes, Really)
A unique highlight of this residence is its soundproof tatami room equipped with DAM karaoke - the same high-quality system used in professional karaoke lounges across Japan.
Here, you can sing, laugh, dance, and enjoy yourself late into the evening without worrying about noise - all while looking out toward Nijō Castle.
A rare Kyoto luxury.
Spaces Created for Comfort, Privacy & Togetherness
Across every floor, TOMO is designed so that guests can connect easily while still enjoying personal comfort.
A castle-view bedroom
A spacious living room perfect for family gatherings
Quiet rooms for rest and privacy
Communal areas for relaxing and chatting
Whether you're celebrating a big milestone, enjoying a multi-day retreat with close friends, or planning a small company workshop, the house adapts effortlessly.
More Than Just a Place to Stay
The creators of Private Residence TOMO built this home with a heartfelt purpose:
To offer a space where bonds deepen naturally
where time slows down, and where meaningful moments unfold without effort.
It is a place to cook breakfast together.
A place where children run between rooms.
A place where friends talk until midnight.
A place where the quiet presence of Nijō Castle settles gently into every memory.
For families, friends, and travelers who seek a more intimate Kyoto experience, TOMO offers a rare blend of tradition, openness, and modern comfort.
Why We Recommend It
As Kyoto continues to welcome visitors from around the world, spaces like TOMO remind us of what travel can truly be: not just sightseeing, but shared living - under one roof, in one of the most historic places in Japan.
If your next Kyoto trip includes multiple people - or if you want the privacy and warmth of a whole Japanese home - Private Residence Nijōjō TOMO is a stay worth adding to your list.
