Collect Unforgettable Memories, along with Stamps!

Japan loves its stamp rallies; there’s no denying that. You can see them everywhere, from Pokémon to train stations, and guess what? It’s always fun to participate in it!

But Kyoto decided to take this simple stamp rally concept and transform it into a very Kyoto-like phenomenon! From October 1 to November 30, the Kyoto city subway is hosting its Station-name Stamp Rally or ‘Eki-mei Hanko Rally’, where you can rediscover this beautiful city of Kyoto, a stamp at a time!

But what exactly is this Rally all about?

To put it simply, the Kyoto Art Rally is like a treasure hunt meets art exploration. All of the 31 subway stations across the Karasuma and Tozai lines have their individual hand-carved station stamps, which were made by Kyoto artisans. These artisans have been in the business of making seals for temples & calligraphers for generations.

Interested in joining? All you have to do is pick up a stamp rally sheet (available at a station on either of the lines) and start collecting your stamps. It’s designed like a bingo card, so you can get gifts as you complete every row, and when you complete the entire sheet, you get to enter a lottery where you can win something bigger!

If you are planning to be in Kyoto for a longer period of time, it’s just the perfect thing to try out! By doing so, you get to go on a local adventure and explore unexplored neighbourhoods of Kyoto. Furthermore, when you do this using the day pass, it’s super affordable and lets you access the subway lines!

How can you enrich this experience? By adding some amazing experiences to your daily itinerary, of course!

All you have to do is visit Machikado-Tabigokoro and book any experience that suits you the best! Whether it’s learning a new art form or whether it’s about doing some flashy stuff (like becoming a samurai for a day) or just taking a moment to meditate, we have got it all! All you need to do is book the experience you’d like, and we’ll let you know where to meet us!

And by the time you would have become a ‘hanko (stamp) master’, you will have mastered some more skills as well! So, what are you waiting for? Get ready to make new memories in our beautiful city of Kyoto!
